Rhei Lim (panta rhei)
Rhei began their music journey with classical arrangement and orchestration, but have since expanded their practice into music production and sound design. Under the moniker panta rhei, Rhei’s music is characterised by a deep connection to their environment, blending ambient soundscapes with found sounds.
As a BA (Hons) Music student specialising in electronic music, Rhei experiments with music technology to create innovative instruments and generative systems. Collaborating regularly with directors and animators on media projects, Rhei has also worked on scoring and sound design for films and animations, as well as audio mixing and mastering projects with various local performing arts groups.
Rhei’s artistic philosophy is a commitment to handcrafting sounds. This approach infuses their works with a human touch, their art becoming a personal reflection of both their self and environment.
Work
Rhei has performed on electronics at various arts festivals and events, such as ARTWALK (2022), ThirdSpace Sessions (2024) and Light to Night Festival (2024). They have participated in collaborative multidisciplinary projects showcased at Singapore Design Week (2024).
Rhei has also worked on scoring and sound design for films and animations featured on platforms such as Viddsee and *SCAPE. With a keen ear for audio engineering, Rhei also works on mixing and mastering projects with local performing arts groups, such as CLARQuinet and Vocalise String Quartet. As an orchestral arranger, Rhei’s scoring works have premiered in notable performance venues islandwide, including the Esplanade Concert Hall and Victoria Concert Hall.
